Lindsay Davenport continued to slip through the Wimbledon draw with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Russian 12th seed Vera Zvonareva in the fourth round today.

The 1999 champion, who has yet to lose a set in this year's tournament, will meet another teenager in Croatian Karolina Sprem for a place in the semi-finals.

Having dropped just six games en route to the fourth round, the 28-year-old might have expected another easy outing as she had beaten Zvonareva in all three of their previous meetings.

One of three Russians to have reached the second week of the women's singles, Zvonareva floundered early on as she appeared to be overwhelmed by the Centre Court surroundings.

After losing the first set, the 19-year-old regained her focus to establish a 3-0 lead in the second.

But it was an advantage she failed to hold on to as fifth seed Davenport reeled off five straight games before clinching victory with an ace.

Thirteenth seed Maria Sharapova won her fourth-round match against 31st
seed Amy Frazier, of the United States, 6-4 7-5.
