Protestant clergyman Andras Pandy was sentenced to life in prison and his daughter Agnes to 21 years today for murdering six members of their family.
Pandy (75) and his daughter (44) were found guilty by a Brussels jury late last night after a two-week trial during which the Hungarian-born pastor claimed the victims were still alive in the care of an unspecified international organization.
The trial, in which Pandy repeatedly rambled on about the court's right to try him, featured a grim catalogue of killings, rape and incest, and disposal of bodies in vats of acid dumped in public gutters.
Pandy was convicted of killing two of his wives, two sons and two step-daughters, and raping three of his natural or adopted daughters in a string of attacks in the late 1980s.
Agnes Pandy, a key witness against her father, was convicted in four of the murders.
