Motorsport: Ireland's Michael Devaney made an impressive return to A1 Grand Prix action with fourth place in practice in Shanghai today.
Devaney is racing for the first time since Eastern Creek in November, filling in for regular driver Ralph Firman, who is testing sports cars in Japan.
Despite that lack of action, the Dubliner was on the pace right away in practice for the final race in China.
He was fourth as Mexico's Salvador Duran set the pace with a lap of one minute 52.513 seconds around the Chinese Grand Prix venue. Alex Yoong was second for Malaysia.
Ireland can leap up to fourth place in the standings this weekend and team principal Mark Gallagher has faith in Devaney to end the season on a high.
He said: "We're nine points adrift of fourth place overall, and if the team can deliver a reliable car and good performance in Sunday's pit stop we're confident Michael can deliver the goods.
"This is the ideal opportunity for him to finish the season on a high and help bring Ireland the result they deserve."
