Soccer:Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne will have "no complaints" if forced to delay his Aston Villa comeback from injury because of the form of James Collins and Carlos Cuellar. Back to full fitnesss, Dunne is available for tomorrow's clash at Tottenham.
The Dubliner, who is a certain starter for Ireland in the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers, missed the previous two games with a knee problem and both Collins and Cuellar formed a solid partnership in last Sunday’s 2-1 win at Wolves.
Dunne said: “I wouldn’t have any complaints if I was on the bench on Saturday. If they had been beaten 5-0 then I might be disappointed, but they were brilliant. That’s the way football is and that is what having the squad is all about.
“Players come in and take their chance and it’s up to everyone to work hard to try and get back in. Carlos is brilliant. I played a lot of games with him at centre-back last season and we had a good understanding.
“Wherever he plays, particularly at centre-half, he is one of the better players on the pitch.”
Dunne was substituted during the home game with Bolton but admitted: “I’ve had a sore knee from the start of the season. It has never really cleared up. I had a scan last week and it just needed a bit of rest. I had eight or nine days physio, joined in training on Tuesday and feel good.”
