Hundreds of events will be taking place at schools, third level institutions, community centres and libraries for this year’s College Awareness Week.
Now in it is second year, the initiative aims to highlight the options for school leavers in further and higher education, and to advise student on preparing for college life.
Running between November 23rd and 29th, it is supported by the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, the Higher Education Authority (HEA), the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and a range of other education stakeholders.
Over the course of the week last year, 363 events took place in different locations, and this year the organisers are aiming for an even greater number, with special focus on areas where participation at third level remains below average.
Minister for Education and Skills Jan O’Sullivan said: “Committing to third level study can be a daunting process for many people, so it’s important that they are supported and made aware of all of the options available.”
