The city’s newest and smallest primary school welcomed 26 new students

There was great excitement this morning in Gaelscoil na Giúise, a multi denominational gaelscoil in Firhouse, as the school welcomed 26 new junior infants.

The school opened in 2013 with six pupils and is one of Dublin’s newest and smallest primary schools.

The arrival of 26 new students brings the total attendance to 56.

Currently housed in Firhouse Community Centre, next week they move to new prefabs and plans have been submitted for a new permanent building.

The pupils are among those attending dozens of schools which opened on Thursday.

For the majority of the State’s 540,000 primary pupils, school starts next week.
