Nine Serbs and two Egyptians were also injured in the crash. They were taken to two nearby hospitals in Hurghada and Safaga, on Egypt's eastern Red Sea coast, a medical source said.

Reckless driving, lax traffic rules and poor road conditions cause many road crashes in Egypt, a popular tourist destination.

A series of road and rail accidents, often with multiple deaths, in recent years has sparked public complaints about the government's transport safety record.
