Police, fire and ambulance crews as well as doctors at hospitals across the province will take part in the disaster training involving 1,200 people.

A total of three airports and five hospitals will be involved. Operation Exodus surrounds a flight carrying 100 passengers from the George Best City Airport to the City of Derry Airport.

A problem forces the jet to divert to Belfast International Airport and make a crash landing - causing large numbers of fatalities and injuries. There will be 150 observers from abroad.

Around 200 trainee nurses from the University of Ulster have volunteered to take part as the injured or their friends and relatives.

Hospitals taking part are Antrim Area, Belfast City, The Mater, The Royal Victoria and the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. New systems and procedures will also be tested for the first time.
