Cricket: Stand-in captain Andrew Strauss stroked 74 to guide England to a five-wicket victory over India in the sixth and penultimate one-day Test.
England coasted to 227 for five in 42.4 overs for their first victory in the seven-match series after restricting India to 223 all out in 48 overs. India lead the series 4-1.
Strauss, deputising for rested captain Andrew Flintoff, smashed 10 fours in his 85-ball effort before retiring hurt with cramp and hamstring trouble.
He put on 107 runs for the opening wicket with Ian Bell, who hit 46, setting a platform for England to eventually complete an easy win.
Wicket-keeper Mahendra Dhoni agonisingly missed out on a third one-day hundred, out for 96, to revive India after a top-order collapse.
The local player lashed 10 fours and three sixes for his seventh fifty and added 107 runs for the sixth wicket with Romesh Powar, who made 54 for his maiden half-century.
Seamers James Anderson (3-28), Sajid Mahmood (3-37) and Liam Plunkett (2-22) did most of the damage after stand-in captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and batted first.
The final game will be played in Indore on Saturday.
