Madrid - The armed Basque separatist group ETA planned to target the EU summit in Barcelona next year, the Spanish Interior Minister, Mr Mariano Rajoy, said yesterday. Reporting information gathered from a dismantled ETA unit, Mr Rajoy said ETA's Barcelona commado "wanted to create panic and terror" when EU leaders gathered there next March.
Police who raided the unit last month found more than 250kg of explosives.
