London - Eton College has plummeted to 18th place in the independent schools' A-level league table, in the latest setback for the public school. Its dramatic slump from fourth place last year follows a series of incidents involving bullying, drugs and accidental death.

Winchester College reclaimed the top slot, which it surrendered last year to Westminster School in the figures published by the Independent Schools Information Service (Isis).
