A former member of the FCA who claimed he suffered noise-induced hearing loss while in the force has been awarded £20,000 damages and costs in the High Court.
The claim against the Minister for Defence was brought by Mr Christopher Mangan (42), married with two children, of St Francis Street, Edenderry, Co Offaly, who was a part-time private with the FCA from 1973 to 1978.
Mr Mangan, a carpenter, claimed that while with the FCA he was exposed to noise from mortars and other weapons on firing ranges.
