The Carer's Association has warned that any further Government retrenchment in the Community Employment schemes run by FÁS would have serious implications for the work it does.

In a new strategic plan to be launched today, the association will maintain that the availability of staff funded through the Community Employment schemes has facilitated high levels of growth of services since 1997.

The new strategic plan points out that due to financial constraints the resource centres are spread very thinly across the country, resulting in inadequate staffing and administrative support in some locations.
