Formula 1: The Ferraris of Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher left their mark on today's second practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix as the pair posted the quickest times among those participating in Sunday's race.

Williams test driver Alexander Wurz was fastest around the Shanghai International Circuit for the second session in a row, completing his trip around the raceway in a time of one minute 35.539 seconds as he and his BMW Sauber counterpart Sebastien Vettel battled for the best time.

Vettel had to settle for second, four-hundredths-of-a-second behind Wurz with Honda test driver Anthony Davidson third.

Brazilian Massa came in fourth fastest - and first of the non-test drivers - just ahead of his Ferrari team mate, seven-time world champion Schumacher.

Defending champion Fernando Alonso made his first trip out onto the tarmac after skipping the morning session and finished sixth with a time posted early in the session.

Alonso made another run later in the session but failed to match the pace of his first sojourn and he spun his Renault just before the end of the session as a light sprinkling of rain fell on the track.

Alonso's team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella posted the 10th fastest time of the session, just ahead of the Honda of Jenson Button.  PA
