Fine Gael has called on the banking sector to adopt a proper code of conduct following the news that AIB repaid €3.4 million to trust fund clients who were overcharged for the bank's services.

The party's deputy leader and finance spokesman Mr Richard said the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA) must "immediately" investigate the matter.

"It is also high time for the banking sector to adopt a proper code of conduct to ensure consumer protection across all its businesses," he said.
