Five arrested in Co Donegal

Five people were arrested in Co Donegal early this morning in connection with two separate incidents in Moville and Bridgend.

Five people were arrested in Co Donegal early this morning in connection with two separate incidents in Moville and Bridgend.

At about 8.30am gardaí discovered a number of young men trying to remove copper wire at the Eircom yard at Bridgend. The men tried to flee the scene and rammed a Garda patrol car in the process.

Three men were arrested at the scene and two are due before Letterkenny District Court in the morning. Two gardaí were injured in the incident and were treated at Letterkenny General Hospital.

Separately, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s are also due before Letterkenny District Court tomorrow after being discovered in the grounds of an unoccupied house in Moville.

In Waterford, a man was arrested yesterday evening in connection with a burglary at a house in the city.
