Four teenage boys were killed in a road accident in the North yesterday while in Co Cork, a woman passenger died last night when the car she was travelling in went out of control and crashed.
The four teenage boys were killed yesterday when their car careered off the road. It hit a tree in a hedge and overturned into a field after travelling over a hump on a straight stretch of road on the northern outskirts of Belfast.
All the boys were from the greater Lisburn area and were students at the Lisburn College of Further and Higher Education. A fifth teenager was taken to hospital,but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
All five were in a white Corsa which left the road three miles outside Ligoniel as it headed towards Antrim on a stretch of road known as the Seven Mile Straight. Three hours after the accident, the four bodies were still inside the wrecked car.
The Co Cork accident happened near the Halfway Roundabout, Ballinhassig, Co Cork. The driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital. There were no other vehicles involved.
