Belgrade - Police in Yugoslavia arrested five opposition activists and a lawyer yesterday during a search of their campaign headquarters and later briefly detained their party's leader. In the latest of a series of such arrests before country-wide elections on September 24th, police swooped on a building rented by the Civic Alliance Party in Belgrade, a lawyer for the party told reporters.
Mr Gasa Knezevic, also a deputy head of the Alliance, said police had taken away all the computers and posters for the campaign.
