WOMEN'S HOCKEY/Ireland 1 Canada 1:Róisín Flinn's 48th-minute strike helped Ireland claim a draw in the first of their three-match series against Canada at Belfield today.

Gene Muller’s side had gone behind to a Tiffany Michaluk strike after just seven minutes, while Canadian goalkeeper Azelia Liu produced some great saves to keep Ireland at bay.

Flinn was one of those unlucky not to score before the break, but she made no mistake after Cathy McKean’s initial shot rebounded off the post following a delightful pass from Lizzie Colvin.

The two sides meet again tomorrow at 2.30pm and Sunday at 2.0pm. Both games take place at Belfield.
