Early yesterday, a woman (24) died when her car was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Bruff, Co Limerick. The incident happened at about 10am, between Rockhill and Charleville, on the main Limerick to Cork road.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The male driver of the other car was taken to Cork University Hospital.

It is understood the young woman was working in Limerick but was originally from Newmarket, Co Cork.

On Saturday night, a 60-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Ennis, Co Clare.

John Fitzgibbon from Tulla Road, Ennis, Co Clare was struck by a passing taxi on Lifford Road at about 9pm and pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident to contact them at Ennis Garda station on 065-6848100.

One hour earlier, a 45-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a van in Naas, Co Kildare.

William Lanigan from Mountarmstrong, Co Kildare, was struck by the vehicle as he was walking at Baltracey, Donadea, Naas. Gardaí at Kilcock are investigating the incident.

On Saturday morning, Cyril O'Reilly (66) from Pinewood Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin died when the car he was driving was in a collision with another car at Horseleap, Moate, Co Westmeath.

The incident happened at about 1.25am. Two women were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore where their conditions were described as not life-threatening.
