Four men are being questioned by Gardai in Dublin today following the seizure
of a substantial quantity of drugs and guns in the city.
Officers from the National Drugs Unit seized seven kilos of what is believed
to be cocaine with an estimated street value of €500,000 along with six firearms - two sawn-off shotguns, three rifles and a handgun - as well as ammunition, as a result of searches in the Tallaght area last night.
Two men, aged 18 and 35 and both from Tallaght, were arrested and are being
detained in the local Garda station under the Criminal Justice (Drug
Trafficking) Act.
Earlier in the evening two men were stopped in Dublin city centre with three
quarters of a kilo of what was believed to be cocaine with an estimated street
value of €50,000.
Both men - a 22-year-old from Belfast and a 50-year-old from Tallaght - are also being detained under the drug trafficking laws.
