The New World may be forging ahead, increasing its share of the Irish market, but Superquinn grows ever more loyal to France. The supermarket group was recently presented with the Ireland France Chamber of Commerce Annual Award in recognition of the fact that its total purchases from la belle France doubled from £7 million in 1995 to £14 million in 1998 - and £10 million of that was wine. Superquinn's autumn Foire aux Vins, organised with the French chain Casino, has been a huge success.
