The eight-week suspension proposed for Kerry’s Paul Galvin will stand after the Central Appeals Committee ruled against the current footballer of the year's appeal last night.

Galvin picked up the ban after receiving a red card in the recent NFL match against Cork.

As it was his second such offence in less than a year the minimum four-week suspension was doubled by the Central Hearings Committee.

The ruling means Galvin will miss the entire league campaign, save for the final game against Monaghan on April 11th.

The four-week ban handed down Cork's Eoin Cadogan for his role in the same incident will also stand, meaning he will miss games against Galway and Tyrone.
