Gardaí in south Dublin arrested three men in the course of an attempted robbery on a van making a cash delivery today.

Gardaí in south Dublin arrested three men in the course of an attempted robbery on a van making a cash delivery today.

A Garda statement said that as a result of an ongoing operation targeting serious crime, gardaí this afternoon foiled an attempted robbery in Sandyford Business Park.

"A cash in transit van was in the process of making a delivery to an ATM machine in the park when it was approached by three men in a white van," the statement said.

The men, aged 27, 32 and 33, were arrested at the scene and are being detained under section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Blackrock, Dún Laoghaire and Dundrum Garda stations.

One firearm was recovered during the course of the incident, the Garda statement said.

No shots were fired and no one was injured. No money was taken.
