Gardaí have named the off-duty garda who died following a collision with a car yesterday evening.

Gardaí have named the off-duty garda who died following a collision with a car yesterday evening.

He was 48-year-old John Naughton of Cornamucklagh, Omeath, Co Louth.

The collision happened when Mr Naughton he was on a motorcycle charity ride at Dromore, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, shortly after 5pm.

He was taking part in the Inishowen 100 tour - a two-day charity rally.
