Gardaí investigating the discovery of a badly decomposed body in a woods in Co Wicklow have appealed to members of the public who may have visited the car park at the Glen of the Downs from June 21st until July 13th to contact them.

The body was found lying face down in a stream in the Glen of the Downs on Tuesday night by a man walking his dog.

Gardaí have withheld the results of a post-mortem for operational reasons.

The man may have been a Lithuanian national who had not been in the State for long.

"That is our main theory at the moment", a Garda spokesman said.

He added that it may be a number of days before the man is formally identified from dental records.

Investigating garda can be contacted at (01) 6665300.
