Gardai seize heroin worth €500,000 in Dublin

Gardaíin Dublin have seized two kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of €500,000.

A man (30) was arrested in connection with the seizure on Parkgate Street yesterday.

He is being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act in Kilmainham Garda Station. A Garda spokeswoman said the haul was part of an operation by Kilmainham Garda drugs unit and the Garda national drugs unit.

Meanwhile, drugs with an estimated street value of €50,000 were seized during a planned raid on a house in Athlone, Co Westmeath last night.

The seizure in the Monksland area included quantities of cocaine, ecstacy, cannabis herb and resin.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and is currently detained in Athlone Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, 1996.

The operation was carried out by members of the Divisional Drugs Unit and Gardaí at Athlone.
