Meath Gaelic footballer Graham Geraghty is to seek a Fine Gael nomination to run in the new three-seater Meath West constituency at a convention on Monday, December 11th, writes Mark Hennessy.
Sitting TD Damien English, who won a seat in the existing five-seat Meath constituency in 2002, will also seek a nomination at the convention which takes place in Old Darnley Lodge Hotel in Athboy.
Other candidates include Trim-based businessman Ray Butler and Trim solicitor and Meath county councillor Peter Higgins.
MEP Maireád McGuinness is increasingly expected to run alongside Louth TD, Fergus O'Dowd. Ms McGuinness though remains tight-lipped about her intentions.
