Berlin - German police have tightened security at Jewish, Israeli and US buildings because of increased tensions in the Middle East and a recent rise in anti-Semitic violence, authorities said yesterday.
Police officials, diplomats and Jewish community leaders in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Duesseldorf confirmed they had increased security beyond initial steps taken in recent weeks because of concerns about racist violence in Germany.
Authorities also said measures were being tightened for a Jewish festival, the feast of Tabernacles, taking place this weekend.
