Rainer Schuettler capped an improbable run to the final of the Australian Open today with a four-set victory over America's Andy Roddick.
The German, who had never advanced past the fourth round of a Grand Slam before this tournament, prevailed 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 6-3 and will now face three-time champion Andre Agassi.
Roddick, who had to survive a pair of five-set marathons against Mikhail Youzhny and Younes El Aynaoui, was his own worst enemy with 40 unforced errors to just 19 for Schuettler.
Schuettler said: "It was a dream and sometimes you have a chance to realise a dream.

"I'm looking forward to playing in the final [on Sunday]. You have to have dreams otherwise it's boring and I have another dream - to win it".
