Washington - Some 8,000 US soldiers deployed during the Gulf War were given experimental botulism shots without their consent, an Ohio newspaper reported, citing military documents.
The shots are being studied as a source of the mysterious Gulf War Syndrome that has baffled researchers, the Plain Dealer of Cleveland reported on Sunday. The vaccines were administered even though an army ethics board ruled it would be unethical to give them to the soldiers without their consent, the newspaper reported.
