A claim on behalf of Mr Larry Goodman and the Goodman group of companies that they were owed €150,471 in legal costs by the Minister for Finance was struck out at the High Court by agreement yesterday.
Mr Goodman and his companies had applied to have final judgment for the amount entered against the Minister but Miss Justice Laffoy was told yesterday that the matter could be struck out by consent.
The Minister had been dissatisfied with the total costs amount allowed by the Taxing Master and following a review by the High Court, Miss Justice Laffoy had in October 1999 reduced the Taxing Master's allowances from €9,265,852 to €7,122,771, a reduction of €2,143,081 or about 23 per cent.
The bill for €150,471 arose out of legal costs incurred during a hearing before the Taxing Master of objections raised on behalf of the Minister who had been dissatisfied with the Taxing Master's allowances.
