Berlin - The winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Gunter Grass, a veteran Social Democrat, says he is ending his friendship with Mr Oskar Lafontaine over the attacks by the former party leader on his successor, the German Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, for his turn to the right.
He told Die Woche in an interview published yesterday that "with Lafontaine, it's over" because of the damage he had done to his own party.
