Customers overpowered a man armed with a sawn-off pump-action shotgun in a Limerick pub last night.

Customers overpowered a man armed with a sawn-off pump-action shotgun in a Limerick pub last night.

The man (31), who was wearing a balaclava, walked into Quilty's pub in Thomondgate at around 8.30pm.

It is understood he pointed the shotgun at a man before being set upon by four customers.

Gardaí were called to the pub and arrested the gunman, who suffered head injuries. He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional, where he is being held in Garda custody.

None of the four customers were injured or arrested.
