The spiritual leader of the Islamic militant group Hamas has denied they had any connection with the attacks.
"We in Hamas, our battle is on the Palestinian land. We are not ready to move our battle out of the occupied Palestinian territories," Sheikh Ahmed Yassin said in Gaza City.
He said US policies against the "weaker peoples of the world" were to blame for the aircraft attacks on two major US cities.
