MINISTER for Transport Noel Dempsey will today launch a pilot programme that will ensure parking offences and toll revenues apply on both sides of the Border.

Details of the plan to allow the Republic and Northern Ireland to share data relating to vehicle ownership in a secure manner will be outlined at a North-South “Transport Matters” event in Newry, Co Down.

Mr Dempsey has previously discussed the harmonisation of drink-driving limits and the mutual recognition of driving disqualifications with the North’s Minister for Transport Conor Murphy and Minister for Regional Development Edwin Poots.
