The Tánaiste and Minister for Health said today it was possible that the Progressive Democrats and Fianna Fail could secure a third term in government.

But, speaking on RTÉ radio, Ms Harney said it could only be done if the Government made progress in the areas of health and education.

Ms Harney's comments came as an opinion poll showed a sharp increase in satisfaction with the Government's performance and that of the Taoiseach and the Tanaiste.

The survey, which was carried out by Millward Brown IMS for the Sunday Independent showed modest increases in support for the main parties.

There was also good news for Fine Gael leader, Mr Kenny, who improved his support ratings substantially.
