A further 1,749 positive cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by PCR testing in the State.

In addition, a further 3,012 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal on Monday.

As of 8am on Tuesday, there were 1,004 Covid-19 patients in hospital, down 77 on Monday’s total. There were 53 Covid-19 patients in intensive care units, down two.

The positivity rate of PCR rests for Covid-19 in the past seven days fell again to 26.7 per cent.

Nineteen deaths related to Covid-19 were notified on Tuesday, according to the HSE’s online Covid hub.

Meanwhile in Northern Ireland, the deaths of a further two patients who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 were reported.

The North’s Department of Health has also notified another 927 positive cases of the virus in the previous 24-hour period.

On Tuesday morning, there were 440 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom three are in intensive care. – PA
