Covid-19: Another 3,342 PCR-confirmed cases are reported in the State

Number of patients in hospital with the virus increases by 37 in the space of a day

Another 3,342 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the State, while a further 4,352 people have registered positive antigen tests through the HSE portal.

These latest daily case figures were reported in a statement from the National Public Health Emergency Team on Wednesday afternoon.

As of 8am on Wednesday, 653 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised, of whom 46 were in ICU. The number of Covid-19 patients in hospital marked an increase of 37 on the number of such patients recorded on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, four more people who had previously recently tested positive for Covid-19 have died, the North's Department of Health said on Wednesday.
