COELIAC AWARENESS: If Bread Makes You Ill is the theme of an international poster campaign launching tomorrow to raise awareness about Coeliac disease, a permanent condition in which the lining of the small intestine is damaged if cereal proteins containing gluten are ingested.

It affects one in 100 people, although often it takes years to be diagnosed. Symptoms include diarrhoea or constipation, weight loss, bloating, indigestion, stomach pain and chronic fatigue. The Coeliac Society can be contacted via www.coeliac.ie or tel: 01-8721471.

LIFE ISSUES: Involving young people in tackling bullying in schools, exploring the relationship between exercise and obesity, and the ethical and policy issues in stem cell research - these are just some of the topics that will be discussed from Wednesday to Friday at the Health4Life conference in the School of Nursing, Dublin City University, Glasnevin, Dublin. See www.dcu.ie for full details.

DEBUNKING AGE MYTH: The Myth of Ageing is the name of a workshop in Hanna Somatics on Saturday and Sunday, June 10th and 11th, in the Carmelite Community Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin. Somatics is a series of slow, precise movements done in sequence to encourage the body to let go of emotional and physical trauma to improve health and wellbeing. Price: €200. Tel: 01 4754673 or www.hannasomatics.com
