Hibernian’s Trinidad and Tobago international Russell Latapy was today charged with drink-driving after he was found three times over the legal limit.
The Scottish club has sacked the player.
Midfielder Latapy was arrested on Friday night after Edinburgh police spotted his car veering onto the wrong side of the road.
Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke was also in the car.
Latapy was not named in the Hibernian side which drew 0-0 with Edinburgh rivals Hearts on Sunday.
"Russell won't play for the club again," said Hibernian manager Alex McLeish. "It has nothing to do with the alleged drinking offence - this is purely a football decision.
"He didn't show up for training on Friday and I had to take action for the good of the club."
Yorke, whose has incurred the wrath of manager Alex Ferguson this season because of his playboy lifestyle, could be in further trouble with his manager.
