Hibernian have sacked French manager Franck Sauzee following the Scottish club's poor run of results in recent weeks.

"Franck Sauzee has been asked to stand down from his role as manager," Hibernian said in a statement today. "The decision has been taken with great sadness and regret".

Former France international Sauzee took over as manager last December, replacing Rangers-bound Alex McLeish, but has been unable to improve the fortunes of the team.

Hibs are second from bottom in the Scottish Premier League, having won only five of their 29 matches this season.
