Travel firms are refusing to refund holidaymakers who want to cancel their holidays to Turkey following the earthquake there a fortnight ago.
The Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs and the European Consumer Centre have received a significant number of complaints that holidays cannot be refunded.
Even though the most popular tourist destinations are far from the affected areas, tourists are nervous because of the potential for further earthquakes, according to Mr Colin Daly of the European Consumer Centre.
His office has handled approximately 60 complaints since the earthquake was reported. He said because the earthquake was classified as "an act of God", consumers were not entitled to a refund.
