A further extension has been granted to gardaí to allow them prepare the book of evidence in the case against a 20-year-old charged with the manslaughter of Robert Holohan.
Wayne O'Donoghue, a structural engineering student at Cork Institute of Technology, has been charged with the unlawful killing of the 11-year-old schoolboy at Ballyedmond Hill, Midleton on January 4th last.
At Midleton District Court today gardaí applied for a an extension to the time for the preparation of the book of evidence.
Mr O'Donoghue's solicitor, Frank Buttimer, told the court he had no objection to the remand as bail was not being sought but he asked to be informed of the reason for the delay.
Judge Michael Pattwell granted a one-week extension until Thursday next week. He told the court that if the book of evidence is not complete by that date he wanted a member of the Director of Public Prosecutions' office or a senior officer in charge to appear to explain the delays.
Today was Mr O'Donoghue's seventh appearance in court since he was first charged on January 17th.
