Management at a number of hospitals have written to RTÉ expressing concern about footage secretly filmed inside their A&E departments.

The undercover recording, part of a Prime Time Investigates programme to be broadcast tonight, has also been criticised by hospital consultants.

Management at Beaumont, the Mater and Tallaght hospitals have complained to RTÉ about possible breaches of patient privacy.

Secretary General of the Irish Hospital Consultants Association Finbarr Fitzpatrick said undercover recording in A&E units was "totally inappropriate".
