PSNI officer shot twice in police station
A PSNI officer was seriously injured after being shot twice at a police station in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.
The shooting happened at the PSNI station at about 7pm on Saturday. An off-duty female officer was arrested at the scene.
A PSNI spokesman said the shooting was being treated as a domestic incident although it is not believed the two are a married couple.
The female officer was last night still being questioned by the PSNI.
Man to be charged with murder
A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in Coleraine Magistrates Court this morning charged with the murder of a 50-year-old man in Ballymena, Co Antrim.
A PSNI spokesman said the victim, who was named as Stanley John Matthews from Ballymena, had died of head injuries.
His body was found in Alveston House, a Simon Community hostel on the Dunclug estate in Ballymena, on Friday afternoon.
Five in court on cocaine charges
Five men have appeared before Dublin District Court charged with the possession and supply of cocaine in north Co Dublin.
They were arrested on Thursday afternoon when gardaí swooped on a car and a truck near Rush and Lusk train station.
The accused, who include two men from Dublin, one man from Liverpool and two men from Manchester, are due to appear in court again next Thursday. - (PA)
Suspect arrested after shooting
A 47-year-old man has been arrested after a teenager was shot in the leg in west Belfast.
The 18-year-old man was walking along the Falls Road on Friday night when two men approached him and punched him.
He was knocked to the ground and one of the males then shot him in the leg.
The victim was yesterday in a stable condition in hospital.
Polish man missing in Kerry
Gardaí in Killarney, Co Kerry are investigating the disappearance three weeks ago of a Polish man in his early 40s who failed to return to his flat near the town centre, leaving his passport and his belongings.
Sgt Tom Tobin said gardaí were alerted by flat-mates to the disappearance of Dariusz Giera, one of about 3,000 Polish people in Killarney.
Mr Giera had worked with a number of construction companies.
