Doomsday clock back by a minute
NEW YORK - Scientists pushed back the hands on the symbolic Doomsday Clock by one minute, citing hopeful developments in nuclear weapons and climate change.
The symbolic clock that shows how close mankind is to self-destruction was moved back to six minutes before midnight from five minutes yesterday.
The "clock" is maintained by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, which boasts 19 Nobel laureates. - (Reuters)
World's oldest dog dies aged 20
LONDON - The world's oldest dog died yesterday after developing stomach cancer, his owners said.
Lynn Jones from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, said 20-year-old dachshund cross terrier Otto was put down by a vet this morning.
Otto, officially crowned the oldest dog in the world by the Guinness Book of Records in October last year, had been ill for some weeks. - (PA)
