Ennis man on stab charge remanded
An Ennis man charged in connection with stabbing a Filipino waitress at an Ennis hotel earlier this month has been further remanded in custody.
At Ennis District Court yesterday, Tommy Dormer (32), Ashfield Park, Gort Road, who is charged with assaulting Mia Buena (29) at the Auburn Lodge hotel on January 2nd, was further remanded in custody to reappear on February 2nd.
Clonakilty attack investigated
Gardaí in west Cork have launched an investigation after a young woman claimed she was dragged in to a gateway of a house and sexually assaulted.
She was attacked by a man in the Tawnies area of Clonakilty at 10.10pm on Wednesday night.
The attack was interrupted when a car passed by, prompting the man to run away.
The alarm was raised after the woman went to a local Garda station to report the incident. Gardaí believe the individual who interrupted the assault may be of assistance to them in their investigation.
The attacker is described as being about 188cm (6ft 2in) tall. He was wearing a hooded dark blue knee length jacket and gloves and is between 35-40. He has a moustache and a goatee.
Man acquitted of tractors charge
A man was acquitted of having two stolen tractors in his possession on April 21st last year, by Judge John Hogan at the Circuit Criminal Court in Monaghan yesterday.
Joseph McNally (38), Main Street, Newbliss, was also cleared of unlawful possession of 50 rounds of .22 ammunition.
The judge directed the jury to bring in the not guilty verdict, after legal submissions which claimed the State had failed to produce sufficient evidence.
Man admits exposing himself
A man has pleaded guilty to exposing himself to young girls outside a school in Ennis, Co Clare. At Ennis District Court yesterday, Hamilton Bareness (29), Creggan, Tobartaoscain, pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent exposure in November.
Insp Michael Gallagher told Judge Joseph Mangan: "There was a lot of fear and disquiet from parents and young children from around Ennis while these incidents were happening."
In court last month, Garda Stephen Hession said Bareness, a Brazilian national, was arrested outside Coláiste Mhuire, a girls secondary school in Ennis, during a Garda surveillance operation, on November 30th.
The case was adjourned to next Friday.
