A round-up of today's other stories in brief....
Photos of Moher cyclists criticised
Clare County Council has strongly condemned publication of photographs depicting the "reckless" actions of two cyclists who claim they cycled along the edge of the Cliffs of Moher risking their lives.
Although expressing doubts about the authenticity of the photos, which have appeared on several websites and some newspapers in recent weeks, Gerard Dollard, Clare County Council's director of services, has described the actions of the two individuals as "totally reckless and irresponsible".
Steve Peat (33) from England and Hans Rey (40) from Switzerland claim they cycled along a 20-yard stretch of the 700-ft cliffs last year.
According to Mr Rey's website: "Locals warned us of the upward drafts, that blow people off the cliffs - and sure enough the wind was picking up over night. Even though the conditions and weather were less than good, this was our one and only chance to ride the cliffs, so we did."
Limerick priest to be buried today
Mayor of Limerick Joe Leddin has led tributes to the Redemptorist priest Fr Gerry Daly who will be buried this morning.
Fr Daly was probably best known for his annual Christmas appeal, which saw thousands of families receive food hampers in Limerick each December.
Mr Leddin said: "I think he will be best remembered for his devotion to helping those less fortunate and more vulnerable than ourselves through his annual Christmas campaign."
Hundreds of mourners are expected at Fr Daly's funeral Mass at 11am at Mount St Alphonsus Redemptorist church in Limerick. He will be buried afterwards in the Redemptorist community cemetery.
