Bristol - Three separate inquiries are under way at a prison in Bristol after three inmates died in their prison cells within the past week, the prison service confirmed yesterday, reports Rachel Donnelly.

Two remand prisoners, Raymond Hobson (48) and a convicted sex offender, Richard Dyer (36), were both found hanged in their cells at Bristol Prison. A convicted thief, David Hendricks (27), was also dead in his cell but his death is believed to have been an accident rather than suicide.

A spokeswoman for the prison said the deaths were the first recorded at the prison since last November.

Hobson, who had been placed on suicide watch, had appeared for the first time in court on Tuesday charged with the murder of his wife.
